Beginning Readers

Once children have started putting letters together to make two and three letter words, they are ready to apply their knowledge of letter sounds to an increasing number of words. From this they very quickly move on to learning about:
  • blended sounds
  • letters that make more than one sound
  • letters working together to make additional phonograms
  • spelling rules.
Learning these things helps with both reading and writing.
