NAPLAN Spelling Rule 11: Three Letter ch
When ch comes directly after a vowel making its short sound, three letter ch as in tch, is used.
This rule only applies to ch making its most common sound as in lunch. The phonogram ch also makes a k sound as in school and a sh sound as in chef.
Examples: hutch, match, fetch.
Exceptions: rich, much, which.
