STRUCTURE OF A NARRATIVE
Purpose: A narrative entertains readers by telling them a story. Telling stories can also be informative.
Structure:
1. Orientation
* Who, when, where
* Sometimes why and how
Optional: Explain complication - directly or implied.
2. Main Body
* Series of events
* Event that causes complication - there may be more than one.
* Evaluation - reaction by characters to the complication or complications.
3. Conclusion
Resolution - solution to the problem.
Optional: lesson from the story.
